Lyptus® High-Grade Hardwood Flooring Lyptus® is a premium plantation-grown hardwood from Brazil. A natural hybrid of Eucalyptus grandis and E. urophylla, Lyptus® features many desirable characteristics, including exceptional workability, machining properties, density, finish tolerance and overall strength. This makes it well-suited for diverse high-end applications like furniture, cabinets, flooring and architectural millwork. Building with Lyptus® is a wise environmental choice. Wood is produced using proprietary technology in a sustainable and environmentally responsible manner. Eucalyptus is grown on very productive plantations, where stands of indigenous trees are interspersed to preserve natural habitat. Wood can be harvested in just 14 to 16 years – much faster then other premium hardwoods grown in colder climates – ensuring reliable supplies throughout the foreseeable future. Weyerhaeuser Building Materials offers two types of Lyptus® products: Lyptus® is one of the newest hardwood flooring innovations in decades. Grown in plantations that preserve natural habitat ecosystems, Lyptus® represents a smart alternative for sustainable building. Featuring a clear face and no knots, holes or gum pockets, Lyptus® is also a fine choice for aesthetic appeal. Two commercial grades of Lyptus® are available through Weyerhaeuser. The standard grade contains all colors in the wood’s natural continuum, from light pink to red, with no stains. No pieces with sharp color contrasts between the sapwood and heartwood are allowed. The striped grade, on the other hand, may contain stains on the face, and is selected for contrasting colors that create a dramatic striped effect.
